Write with Pip

Write with Pip

Write your book one small stone at a time.

Cairn is a quiet place to write, with a small sandstone guide named Pip. Pip nudges you when you stall, cheers when you show up, and never writes the book for you. It's free, it runs in your browser, and there's nothing to sign up for.

No account. No ads. No trackers. Your words stay on this device.

Pip, a small sandstone rock with big eyes and a friendly smile, holding a feather quill.

How it works

A cairn is a stack of stones that marks a trail.

Your chapters are the stones. Each session adds one. Pip keeps you on the trail without getting in the way.

  1. Open the page and write

A calm, distraction-free page for each chapter. Everything saves as you type, to this browser only. Export your book as a Markdown file whenever you like.

  2. Pip nudges, gently

One prompt when you start a chapter. A nudge if you've stalled for two minutes. A welcome back after a break, and a short cheer when you hit your goal. You can turn the nudges off.

  3. Stack the days

Set a daily word goal and watch the streak grow. Missed a day? Pip doesn't do guilt. Ten minutes restarts the streak.

Meet Pip

A small rock with a quill and good instincts.

Pip is warm, brief, a little wry, and allergic to hype. Ask a question and you get a short answer and one small next step. Pip coaches. You write.

  • Pip runs in your browser. Pip's guidance is a small library of Markdown notes and a tiny runner that picks the right note for the moment. There's no AI model and no server, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
  • Every reply shows its source. Tap "why this?" to see which notes Pip drew from. Nothing is made up.
  • Want a chattier Pip? You can bring your own OpenRouter key. It's stored only in your browser, and requests go straight from your browser to OpenRouter.

I'm stuck on chapter 7 and can't find the words.

Being stuck usually means being drained. Walk, listen to a whole album, read good writers, step away briefly, or talk the chapter out loud and transcribe it.

Stuck? Talk this part out loud for two minutes, then tidy it.

Pip, on its own, when you come back after a few days away:

Welcome back. Start with ten minutes and no guilt.
